Message from the Vice President

It has been a very exciting time this spring preparing for the 2000 season. Softball continues to be a popular choice for girls in Mississauga North, with over 500 players registered this year. The league now has nine Rep teams, plus 40 House League teams. This includes our own House League loop at the Midget division.

As mentioned in our Winter 2000 Newsletter, the Softball Board has been focused on some key objectives for the 2000 season. Heres an update:

To enhance our umpire program, 39 new umpires have been recruited and trained in the Softball program. A full complement of umpire convenors are in place to focus on umpire scheduling and availability.

To contribute our fair share to the All-Star leagues, we are hosting four All-Star tournaments - see details in the All-Star section of this Newsletter.

To keep you informed of activities across the Rep, House League and All-Star divisions, we are posting updates on the MNBA Softball website and in The Mississauga News.

We continue to strive for increased "quality of service" through enhanced pitching clinics and on-field programs.

To help busy families schedule their lives more easily, most levels are playing their league games on fixed nights.

We are pleased to announce that Hewlett Packard has once again committed to be our Gold level corporate sponsor for the 2000 Softball season. This sponsorship provides the Softball program with a source of funds and donated equipment for raffles, in return for marketing opportunities of Hewlett Packards leading edge computing and imaging products for consumers and home offices.

On behalf of the Softball Board, we thank you for registering in the Mississauga North Girls Softball program and we hope that you enjoy the season and develop your softball skills.

John Moore, Vice President of MNBA Softball, 821-3731
