300 BEING, A SMART BASE RUNNER
The baseball player not bless with blazing speed who learns how to use his speed or lack of it, can be a valuable asset to his team. The opposite is also true. A player who does not know or runs the bases without thinking can quickly run his team right out of a rally.
Effective base running requires good technique from every muscle in your body. Learn the proper technique and the slower runner becomes a better runner.
1. You will run faster by staying relaxed. Do not tense up by gritting your teeth.
The tension will transfer down your spine causing your muscles to tighten
and restrict movement.
2. Run directly to your target with your head up and your shoulders level. This
will allow you to pump your arms.
3. Keep your knees bent and lift them as high as you can.
4. Land on the balls of your feet with your body leaning slightly forward with
each stride.
