SPIRIT OF HOUSE LEAGUE
Guidelines
As we enter the mid-point of our 2000 softball season, we would like to thank all the coaches for your efforts in leading a House League team and for invested your personal time this season. As coaches in House League, we believe that you are here to help build the girls sportsmanship, confidence and skill levels. With this in mind we would like to review the importance, the intent and the spirit of the House League program. The softball Board would like to remind all of our coaches of the following Dos and Donts of House League to help ensure that all of our players enjoy their season and return to play Softball with us next season.
Do:
positive cheering for the other team; applaud their great defensive plays and offensive hits.
support our umpires through respect, positive comments and constructive feedback.
rotate your batting line-up each game so that through the course of the seasons
work to develop and improve the skill level of all players, recognizing that each player can make a contribution.
control the behaviour of your teams parents and set their expectations regarding our Softball Board Spirit of House League guidelines.
be a role model for all your players and parents and teach them to win with pride and lose with dignity.
lets not forget the most important thing of all: HAVE FUN!
Dont:
coach to every game.
delay between innings to slow down play.
slow the game down to question umpires judgement calls. If you must, please review them between innings or after the game.
be negative about the League. If you have suggestions, put them forward to your Director of Softball.
Thank you again for your support this season.
Joe Medeiros, Director of Senior Softball
Russ McCall, Director of Junior Softball
